Walloon Storytellers

Walloon Storytellers

Great Fire Remembrance

Great Fire Remembrance

A remembrance of the Great Fire of 1871 will be held on Saturday, October 7 at the Belgian Heritage Center. Captain David Siegel of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department (retired) will speak about the unusual nature of the Great Fire and why it was so deadly for so many. A re-enactment of the experiences of Emmerence Gaspart Englebert, a Great Fire survivor will be performed by her great-granddaughter, Barb Englebert Chisholm at 11:00. Lunch will be available for purchase. Everyone is welcome and there is no admission required. We especially encourage students and anyone who wants to learn more about the Great Fire to attend.  See the PDF below for more information.

Raffle tickets are now available for this year's Hunters Raffle at BHC, Steel Wheel Saloon (Namur), Rocky Ridge Shooter's Supply (Oconto Falls), Joe Rouer's Bar (Duvall), Susie's Place (Lincoln), The Blue Spruce (Spruce in Oconto County), Rouer's Roadhouse (Little Sturgeon) and BHC volunteers.  See the PDF for  a list of top prizes and sponsors. Tickets are $10 each, three for $20 and 20 for $100. Raffle will be on Facebook Live. BHC is pleased to host a showing of Room 108: The Clearing, a movie by local filmmaker, Freddy Moyano.  Don't miss a chance to see BHC and some of our wonderful volunteers featured in this award winning film.  BHC will open at 3:00 for visitors to see our museum exhibits and a display of movie props.  The movie will start at 4:00. The Belgian Heritage Center is a great location to host your event.  BHC’s facilities accommodate family reunions, weddings, conferences and other gatherings.  Options include indoor or outdoor gathering, catering kitchen, banquet tables/chairs, audio/visual equipment and food service equipment.
