Our 2018 Kermiss will be a big event - art and vendors; antique farm implements; bucket raffle; Belgian pie, trippe, booyah, jutt and beer.  The popular band Mad Cats will perform again this year.

Join us for our a Hunter's Raffle at the Belgian Heritage.  The raffle will be held at 2:00 including rifles, pistols, taxidermy services and more.  Food will include wild game chili and stew, bread and dessert.  Ed Thiry will serve craft beer from Thumb Knuckle Brewing Company in Walhain and speak about the history of Belgian beers.  Fr. If you live or have lived in a part of eastern Wisconsin where Walloon/Belgian is spoken, or have another connection to this community, UWEC would love to hear your thoughts!  You are invited to participate in an anonymous survey about your experience with and attitude toward this unique heritage language.  The purpose of this survey is to obtain a quantitative description of community attitudes toward Belgian (or Wisconsin Walloon) to inform ongoing materials development and promotion efforts. Great Fire Remembrance/Author's Talk

Great Fire Remembrance/Author's Talk

The Great Fire (Peshtigo Fire) occurred on October 8, 1871, causing widespread death and destruction in the Belgian settlement. Barb Englebert Chisholm will present her popular portrayal of a Belgian settler's experience on that awful day.  BHC is also proud to host Kathleen Ernst author of the new book "The Lacemaker's Secret".  Ms Ernst will share her thoughts on writing this wonderful book set in our community.  Booyah lunch will be served and take-out will be available. The Belgian Heritage Center is a perfect church-like setting for weddings and wakes/funerals. The Belgian Heritage Center is also available for rental for private events such as meetings, conferences and family reunions.

Hours of Operation

The Belgian Heritage Center is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May through October. We are also open throughout the year by appointment - please contact us at least one week in advance of your visit.
